Under 13s v Bramhall North 75 (7/2) Print E-mail
Marple Athletic Under 13s returned to Stockport Metro League action looking to maintain their 100% record against a Bramhall side placed 7th in the table. Marple were in their changed kit of blue and had Dean starting in goal in place of the injured Chester and Hallas filling in at right back for the injured Melville. Marple started well with Flynn and Kay linking up down the left but the big pitch seemed to hinder Marple’s passing game with long balls needed and crosses struggling to reach the penalty area. Mcphee and Jarvis had no problems at the back but Marple frustrations grew and were only helped just before half time when again Flynn and Kay combined down the left and Dunford crossed for Coop to force home from close range to send Marple in to half time with a 1-0 lead.
Marple brought Dean out of goal with captain Mcphee taking his place between the sticks and Dunford filling in at left back and Flynn taking over at centre half. Dean made an immediate impact at the beginning of the second half taking a through ball from Royle and slotting past the keeper on his left foot. Dunford at left back combined well with Kay throughout the second half and work between them resulted in Kay crossing for Noxon to feed the ball into Royle who fired home from close range for Marple’s third. Coop and Hallas combined well down the right and Marple started to look like a team unbeaten in 7 league matches. Manyonda replaced Noxon and nearly scored with his first touch but the keeper came out well to save at the strikers feet. The relief was short lived for Bramhall as Ackersley and Royle combined well for Ackersley to push the ball into the stride of Manyonda who fired home for his first and Marple’s fourth.
Dean short just wide when put through by Coop and after good work between Flynn and Dunford Kay sliced the shot wide.  Taylor replaced Ackersley and Humphries replaced Hallas as players tired and Taylor was put through by Coop to cross for Manyonda to shoot just wide.
Marple settled for a clean sheet and a well deserved 4-0 win against a strong Bramhall side and go into next weeks fixture against Cheadle confident and upbeat.
Man of the Match: Jake Dean
Goals: Coop, Dean, Royle and Manyonda
